Maumelle meeting on wastewater set

A public meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the South Room of Maumelle's Jess Odom Community Center, 1100 Edgewood Drive, to allow residents to comment on a proposed wastewater project.

The city, on behalf of the Maumelle-Morgan community, plans to apply for an Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program wastewater grant for funds to improve public wastewater facilities primarily for low- or moderate-income areas, according to a city news release.

The application would request $4.56 million to extend sewers north of Maumelle and west of Interstate 40 along the Arkansas 365 corridor.

The project would provide sanitary sewer service to residents along Arkansas 365 from Eric Place west to Quinn Road, an area that includes the Overstreet-Tanning roads loop, Corvallis Road, Ingram Road, Wilks Lane, and the Dorsey-Todd roads loop.

The proposed project is estimated to benefit approximately half the low- and moderate-income residents in the project scope, according to the news release.
