WASHINGTON COUNTY

The Washington County Historical Society plans the "Mosque, Church, Synagogue: Beginnings and Connections" from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 12. Participants will tour the Islamic Center of Northwest Arkansas, First United Presbyterian Church and Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas, all in Fayetteville. An interfaith panel, with representatives of each religious organization, will speak at 3:50 p.m. at Temple Shalom. Reservations requested.

The University of Arkansas presents "Nailing Down the Protestant Reformation: A Symposium on the Martin Luther Quincentennial" on Thursday and Friday in Gearhart Hall. The conference opens with a keynote lecture at 6 p.m. Thursday and continues with sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Friday. Topics include print and oral culture, the English Bible, visual arts, women and sexuality and long-term effects of the Reformation.

UA Schola Cantorum performs at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Gearhart, and related materials from the UA Special Collections department will be on display in Mullins Library.

Covenant Church (Presbyterian Church in America) in Fayetteville, 4511 Wedington Drive, presents the Rev. Peter Jones speaking during its theological conference next weekend Jones' appearances include a student faculty luncheon at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, noon Friday; keynote address at the church, 7 p.m. Friday; pastor's breakfast, 8 a.m. Nov. 11; luncheon with youth, noon Nov. 11; preaching during worship services, 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Nov. 12; and question and answer session, during the Sunday school hour, Nov. 12; and a fellowship meal, after the 11 a.m. service Nov. 12.

Jones holds a doctorate from Princeton (N.J.) Theological Seminary and is an ordained minister in the PCA. He is the founder and executive director of truthXchange.

A Reformation Organ Crawl in Rogers is planned by the Northwest Arkansas chapter of the American Guild of Organists, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11. "Music and the Reformation" will start at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich St.; travel next to First Presbyterian Church, 1901 W. 26th St.; and finish at Central United Methodist Church, 2535 W. New Hope Road. The event features three different organs and 500 years of music.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W. Hudson Road, celebrates All Saints Day during the 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services. Church members will recognize those who have died in the past year and also those who were persecuted, as the church marks the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 902 S.W. Second St., Bentonville, sponsors its prayer team, who meet after the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday to pray for others.

The church offers the Intender's Circle at 7 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning this week, followed by a 15-minute meditation. Members of the circle will consider that for which they are grateful and set their intentions.

The church plans a Thanksgiving food drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Centerton.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a contemporary service with a light supper, called the "Saturday Ignite," at 5 p.m. each Saturday, beginning this week. The church offers a special service Tuesday for those unable to attend a regular service, followed by a lunch. Transportation available.

The SONday riders plan their next trip at 2 p.m. Nov. 12. Rides are open to those on two- or three-wheel motorcycles. A meal is planned for the return. The church plans a free family video game night, beginning with a meal at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 15.

The church serves a Thanksgiving potluck after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Nov. 19.

The church offers a "Make and Take" for family Christmas ornaments from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 2. Each participant should bring a small set of clear, battery-operated Christmas lights. Reservations requested by Nov. 28.

Holiday Island Community Church, 188 Stateline Drive, presents a murder mystery and Thanksgiving dinner, "Murder on Holiday Island," at 5 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $12, and a limited number are available. The event is held in support of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Ministry. Church members will take collections from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2-16 at Sunfest Market in Holiday Island.
