Veggie Noodle Co. Zucchini Spirals
Veggie Noodle Co. Zucchini Spirals

WHAT: Veggie Noodle Co. Zucchini Spirals

STATS: One serving (a little more than 2.5 ounces) contains 10 calories and zero fat, 3 carbohydrate, 1 fiber, 1 sugar and 1 protein grams. We found them in the refrigerated section at Target, 420 S. University Ave., Little Rock. Visit veggienoodleco.com.

THE SKINNY: A full pound of zucchini costs about $1.50.

A mere 10.7 ounces of Veggie Noodle Co. Zucchini Spirals (spiralized organic zucchini) costs about $5.

Still, I had to try VNC's product for two reasons: cute packaging and utter laziness. And a third reason: contraption fatigue. I don't want to invest $10 to $20 for a spiralizer. The last thing I need is another kitchen gadget (except a sous vide; I really think I might need one). The company also sells Beet Spirals, Butternut Spirals, Sweet Potato Spirals, Sweet Potato Hash, Butternut Veggiccine and Zucchini Veggiccine.

There's nothing simpler than sauteing these light vegetable "noodles" with a little olive oil, garlic and seasonings and topping with the sauce of your choice.

Ooh, and plenty of cheese too -- hey, after all, you're saving all those pasta calories!
