A man accused of raping one girl and sexually assaulting another in the same night pleaded not guilty to both crimes Monday, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

The girls told Springdale officers that it happened at a party in July, according to a probable cause affidavit cited by the newspaper. One 14-year-old said a man later identified as 22-year-old Devon Shane Westbrook forced her onto a mattress and struck her twice when she refused to have sex with him, according to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette .

Another girl, 13, reportedly told police that she was given alcohol and marijuana, then fell asleep in a bedroom upstairs. She awoke to Westbrook fondling her, the affidavit stated.

Records show Westbrook, a Springdale resident, was booked at the Benton County jail Friday. He remained there Tuesday afternoon, and no bail has been set.

The 22-year-old is charged with rape and second-degree sexual assault. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 29.
