A man has been arrested in the beating of his mother at her Arkansas home last month, authorities say.

Roy Hendrix, 48, faces charges of second-degree battery, kidnapping, residential burglary and theft of property, according to a news release from Grant County Sheriff Ray Vance.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded Oct. 29 to the 900 block of Main Street in Leola in reference to an "elderly" woman lying on the floor of her residence. A constable had conducted a welfare check earlier when a family member expressed concern.

The victim was found bound by her feet and bleeding from a head wound, Vance said. She was transported to a hospital and has since been released.

The sheriff’s office conducted a search of the home and interviewed family members, learning that Hendrix was at the residence at the time. Several personal items were reported missing.

On Monday, investigators located Hendrix and arrested him at an undisclosed location, the release states.

Hendrix was booked around 1 p.m. that day into the Sheridan jail, where he remained as of Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $50,000 bail, records show.

Leola, a town of around 500 residents, is about 50 miles south and west of Little Rock in Grant County.
