An Arkansas jailer who had been on the job for less than six months has been arrested, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

The Washington County sheriff's office said 41-year-old Donnie Worley of Huntsville was taken into custody Tuesday evening, according to a news release cited by the newspaper. He was reportedly hired by the agency less than six months ago.

An affidavit states that Worley said he brought two cans of "dipping snuff" to the jail for an inmate, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

Jail records show he remained at the Washington County jail Wednesday afternoon on a furnishing prohibited articles. No bail had been set.
