Crash on I-30 in central Arkansas leaves minor dead, police say

A minor was killed early Friday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 30 in central Arkansas, state police said.

The crash happened around 1:25 a.m. at the Old Military Road exit in Benton after a westbound 2003 Suzuki passenger vehicle left the interstate, according to a preliminary report.

Police say the vehicle then struck a guardrail and overturned, fatally injuring a minor who was a passenger. The minor's age wasn't released. No one else was listed as being hurt.

Travel conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.

The death was one of at least 435 recorded this year in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads, according to preliminary figures.
