A 15-year-old boy was shot multiple times Thursday night at a home in Arkansas, authorities said.

Deputies with the Garland County sheriff’s office responded around 6:40 p.m. to a residence on Fernwood Street in reference to “apparent gunshot wounds,” according to the Sentinel-Record in Hot Springs.

The victim was initially taken to the shot-put area of the Lakeside School District’s athletic facilities to be flown to a hospital but was instead transported by ambulance for treatment, the newspaper reported.

The 15-year-old’s identity has not been released, and the extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.

A possible suspect has been identified but has not been arrested, sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. John Schroeder told Arkansas Online on Friday morning.

An investigation is ongoing into the shooting.
