PAPER TRAILS: Heights barber asked to clean up 'porch'; Little Rock teacher's 'blonde moment'

HEIGHTS SIGHTS: The Facebook message from the patron of Jerry's Barber Shop -- the Heights fixture at 5815 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock -- was, well, cutting.

It said property management made the shop "get rid of their 'porch' benches, took away magazine, Ar Times, Ar Dem Gaz boxes, no waste baskets outside on 'porch,' no smoking on 'porch'... Tradition is gone! ... They also want flag holders removed, no more American Flag."

We asked Nicole Mitchell of Colliers International, which manages properties from 5811 to 5815 Kavanaugh Blvd., why. And really, the flag too?

She emailed, "This property in particular enjoys great visibility. ... We are working to improve the overall appearance of this building. ... (W)e asked our tenants to remove some of their personal belongings that were obstructing the sidewalk and the views including flag holders, benches, magazine racks, etc. We're grateful to our tenants for complying with our requests and helping us keep ... this historic neighborhood looking its best."

This closes this case of Sherlock Combs.

PHOTOS, UH-OHS: Alyssa Stringfellow of Sherwood is a teacher at Little Rock's Grow Learning Centre for children with special needs.

Thanks to her Facebook post (bit.ly/2zNRCOA) gone viral, the 25-year-old educator has taught people around the globe a lesson: Don't take yourself too seriously.

She wrote she was changing her auto insurance policy: The agent asked her to email "my driver's license number, my date of birth, and a picture straight on and a picture taken from each side," which she did.

Then, she continued, "I check my email and find THIS response: 'Hi Alyssa, I am going to need pictures like you just took, except it needs to be of your vehicle. (Smiley face)'

"As you can see, I didn't send pictures of my car ... I sent him pictures of myself."

Alyssa's "really, really... REALLY blonde moment" has since been shared by EllenNation.com (yes, that Ellen!) and even British and Portuguese tabloids.

Laugh and the world really does laugh with you.

TOY BOY: The minds behind the Fun 2 Bake Oven toy, Wal-Mart's answer to the Easy-Bake Oven, are thinking outside the box by putting a boy on its green/blue gender-neutral box.

And that boy is Josiah, the 9-year-old son of Little Rock hairstylist and model Tasha Warrior-Pope. Mother and son are signed with Sculp Agency, which is how the gig came about.

Josiah often spends his downtime playing basketball, football and baseball, but the boy on the oven box is no stranger to the kitchen. Tasha says, "He does like cooking with me, and his favorite is spaghetti."

But he's not looking to become a chef. Says Tasha, "He wants to be either an actor or meteorologist like (KATV Channel 7's) Melinda Mayo."
