OBU, Harding earn Division II playoff berths

Both Ouachita Baptist University and Harding University will be on the road for the first round of the NCAA Division II football playoffs on Saturday.

Ouachita Baptist (9-2) will play No. 4 seed Ferris State (9-1) in Big Rapids, Mich. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Central. Ouachita Baptist captured the Great American Conference title and earned a No. 5 seed into the Super Region 3 bracket.

Ferris State enters the contest on a seven-game winning streak and the Bulldogs will be making their fourth consecutive regional appearance. Ferris State advanced to the national semifinals in 2016.

Harding (8-3) is a No. 7 seed after winning its eighth consecutive game on Saturday. The Bisons are matched up with unbeaten Indianapolis University (11-0). The Bisons and Greyhounds will kickoff at noon Central.

Central Arkansas wins conference title

The University of Central Arkansas earned its first Missouri Valley Conference Championship on Sunday, defeating Missouri State 1-0 in overtime.

MVC Player of the Year Niklas Brodacki scored the winning goal in the 95th minute to propel the Bears to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
