10 people, including two from Arkansas, charged in drug trafficking investigation

MEMPHIS — Federal prosecutors say two men from Arkansas are among 10 charged with conspiring to sell drugs in western Tennessee.

The U.S. attorney's office said Monday that agents with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies investigated and arrested eight people from Memphis and two from West Memphis, Ark., on Nov. 7. The suspects face various charges, with some accused of conspiracy to possess and distribute large amounts of meth, cocaine or marijuana.

The Arkansan suspects were identified as Roy Lee Johnson, 59, and Roy Lee Johnson Jr., 27.

This investigation was conducted as part of the Department of Justice's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces Program.

During the six-month investigation, agents seized approximately $345,000 and 16 pounds of meth.

If convicted, the defendants face mandatory minimum sentences of 10 years to life in prison.
