A man was arrested early Wednesday after he broke into his ex-girlfriend's central Arkansas home and ate some of her food, authorities said.

Shortly after midnight, a woman called police and said she had gotten an alert that someone had opened the front door of her home on Merganzer Drive in Jacksonville when no one was supposed to be there, according to a police report.

The woman told officers her ex-boyfriend, 48-year-old James Daniel Forrester, had broken into her home previously, the report noted.

Police found the home's front door was unlocked, and officers saw a man eating on the couch. Police said the man identified himself as Forrester and told officers he was waiting for his girlfriend to come home.

Police detained Forrester until the woman arrived. She said she had not given him permission to enter her house or eat her food.

Forrester, a Little Rock resident, was being held at the Pulaski County jail on Wednesday morning in lieu of $6,000 bond. He faces charges of residential burglary and property theft, jail records show.
