The pet of the week, Freddie

Freddie is our pet of the week. He is a shepherd mix and a distinguished graduate of the Arkansas Paws in Prison program, where he received extensive training on how to be the best boy ever. Don't worry though, he's modest about his accomplishments and rarely brags. He is friendly, housebroken and responds to commands like "sit," "stay" and "cuddle." He is good with other dogs and would love some human children to love on, too. He is heartworm positive, so Freddie needs to stay in a relaxed environment with limited exercise and excitement while he prepares for treatment. After treatment, he'll be ready to rock 'n' roll and would enjoy walking and hiking. Freddie is the definition of a low-maintenance pup. He's content sitting at your feet as you binge watch your favorite shows -- as long as you share your snacks. Freddie is around 3 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250.

Skipper, a beagle/mountain cur mix, is a first-class dog that is great with other dogs and people. Skipper loves to cuddle and play in the yard. He's about 1 year old and weighs 35 pounds. Skipper is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250. Skipper is in the Paws in Prison program, where he receives obedience training. The dogs in this program are trained under American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers in the program, so they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. Adoption applications may be submitted now.

Freddie and friends can be adopted through CARE for Animals. More information is available at (501) 603-2273 and careforanimals.org.
