BRONCOS

OC McCoy fired

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Vance Joseph's switch of quarterbacks did nothing to stem the tide of turnovers, so the Denver Broncos rookie head coach Monday changed his offensive architect.

The Broncos' first-year head coach fired coordinator Mike McCoy, his first hire when he got the job in January, and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave for the final six weeks of the season.

Joseph wouldn't commit to keeping Brock Osweiler as his starting quarterback, saying he'd huddle with Musgrave and the rest of his offensive staff to "figure out who's the best guy for our football team."

The Broncos (3-7) have lost six in a row, three under Osweiler, who has three TDs and four interceptions.

RAMS

WR Woods injured

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods has a shoulder injury that will take him out of the lineup.

Coach Sean McVay said Woods will miss a "couple weeks" after he got hurt late in the fourth quarter of a 24-7 loss at Minnesota on Sunday. McVay said the injury will not require surgery.

Woods leads the Rams with 47 receptions for 703 yards and 4 touchdowns, including 16 catches for 252 yards and 2 scores in his past two games.

Woods was tackled by Vikings safety Harrison Smith on a 15-yard reception in the final minutes, driving the weight of both players down on Woods' left shoulder. He left the stadium wearing a sling.

STEELERS

NFL suspends Gilbert

PITTSBURGH -- The NFL suspended Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert four games for violating the league's performance-enhancers policy.

Gilbert will not appeal.

The league made the announcement Monday. Gilbert will be eligible to return for Pittsburgh's visit to Houston on Christmas Day. Gilbert is banned from the team's facility until after the Steelers face New England on Dec. 17.

Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said the team is "disappointed" in Gilbert's actions. Chris Hubbard will fill in at right tackle for the Steelers (8-2), who host Green Bay on Sunday.

The 29-year-old Gilbert has missed three games this season due to a lingering hamstring issue.

REDSKINS

Pryor's season over

Washington Redskins wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is heading to injured reserve after having ankle surgery, ending his first season with the team.

Coach Jay Gruden also said Monday that running back Chris Thompson will have surgery on his broken leg, as expected.

Thompson was hurt in Washington's 34-31 overtime loss at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Pryor was inactive for that game.

Pryor finishes the season with only 20 catches for 240 yards and 1 touchdown. He signed a $6 million, one-year deal with the Redskins as a free agent after gaining more than 1,000 yards receiving for the Cleveland Browns in his first full NFL season as a wideout.

PANTHERS

Olsen, Kalil close

The Carolina Panther could get two key players back for the stretch run.

Tight end Greg Olsen and center Ryan Kalil returned to practice Monday after the team's bye week and could play Sunday against the New York Jets.

Coach Ron Rivera said the return of Olsen and Kalil would be a "big boost" for the Panthers (7-3), who trail New Orleans by one game in the NFC South with six games remaining. He indicated Olsen is further along in his rehab than Kalil.

Olsen has missed the past eight games with a broken foot, but said Monday he felt good.

"I don't know if I was breaking any records out there, but it was a good start," Olsen said. "Just getting your rhythm down, your cutting in and out of breaks."
