After he burned bacon inside an Arkansas house, a 19-year-old was hit with a lamp by his mother's boyfriend, police say.

Terry Perryman, 56, of Jonesboro faces one count of second-degree domestic battery, according to a report. He remained at the Craighead County jail as of Wednesday afternoon, records show.

An officer with the Jonesboro Police Department was called around 10:10 p.m. to a home in the 1400 block of West Huntington Avenue in reference to an assault in progress.

The mother told authorities that her live-in boyfriend, Perryman, hit her son with a lamp after he burned bacon, cutting the teenager’s head open.

After the assault, Perryman sat on the floor next to a pool of blood and was slurring his speech, according to the report. A bloodied lamp was reportedly found nearby on the floor in the doorway leading to a bedroom.

The teenager was transported to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro for treatment, authorities said.
