Skeletal remains found in Arkansas identified as man last seen in March

Skeletal remains found last month in Pine Bluff have been identified as those of a man who was last seen in the area months earlier, authorities said Wednesday.

The remains found Sept. 27 in the 2200 block of west 30th Avenue were identified as those of William Hopson, 39, the Pine Bluff Police Department said in a news release.

Hopson was last seen on March 15 near Camden Road and 28th Avenue, which is about a mile-and-a-half west of the area where his remains were found.

The state Crime Laboratory made the identification based on clothing, articles found with the remains and "by comparing surgical implants against the medical records of Mr. Hopson," the release said.

No signs of trauma were found, and the cause of death was not determined, the release added.

A police spokesman said Hopson was homeless at the time he was last seen, but that he has family in the White Hall area.
