Arkansas native hired as White House deputy press secretary

An Arkansas native who served former Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee has been hired as White House deputy press secretary.

President Donald Trump has hired Hogan Gidley for the communications job, The Washington Post reported. Gidley’s first day was Wednesday.

Gidley grew up in El Dorado and previously worked for White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ father as a senior communications adviser, according to the El Dorado News-Times.

The newspaper reported that he also worked for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s 2016 presidential campaign and for the 2012 presidential campaign of former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.
