Fayetteville Police take children's winter wear donations

FAYETTEVILLE -- Police will host the second Cops and Coats for Kids event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at several locations in the city.

The department will have donation centers set up at the Boys & Girls Club at 560 Rupple Road, Fayetteville High School at 994 M.L.K. Jr. Blvd. and the Department of Human Services 4044 Frontage Road for local businesses and individuals to donate coats, hats and gloves for children in the area who need them.

Donations also will be accepted at any time at the Fayetteville Police Department at 100 W. Rock St. and Elite Cleaners at 81 S. Church Ave.

Last year, police said they were going to wait and see the level of participation before making it an annual event. They collected 70 coats, spokesman Sgt. Anthony Murphy said.

Coats are distributed to children by the Fayetteville Boys & Girls Club.
