BENTONVILLE -- Arkansas Department of Transportation officials have announced several ongoing lane closings related to highway construction on Interstate 49 and the U.S. 412 Northern Bypass.
Construction work on I-49 in Bentonville and Rogers requires nighttime lane closings.
Crews will be performing asphalt mill and inlay operations on I-49 beginning tonight. Northbound and southbound lanes will alternately be closed between U.S. 62/Arkansas 102, Exit 86, and Central Avenue/Arkansas 72, Exit 88. The closings will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. from today through Oct. 31, weather permitting.
Construction work associated with widening I-49 also will require lane closings on U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 in Bentonville.
Eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 will alternately be closed between Phyllis Street and Southeast Eagle Way to allow for pavement and overpass construction beginning tonight. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction during the closures.
The lane closings will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. from tonight to Oct. 31, weather permitting.
The projects are widening more than three miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. Construction is expected to be complete later this year.
Work associated with constructing the U.S. 412 Northern Bypass requires lane closures on Arkansas 112.
Crews will continue pavement striping and guard rail work from today through Oct. 31, weather permitting. One lane of traffic will remain open on Arkansas 112 between Carrie Smith Road and West Miller Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The lane closing will alternate between the northbound and southbound lanes.
Two lanes of traffic will be restored daily by 4 p.m.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-2018 and will be part of a principal east-west route north of the Springdale metropolitan area.
All three projects are part of the department's Connecting Arkansas Program.
