Drivers of Freightliner, pickup killed in wrecks

At least two people died in road accidents, authorities said.

On Thursday, a driver was killed and a passenger hurt when a tractor-trailer crashed off a highway, authorities said.

It happened about 5:45 p.m. on Arkansas 21, about 3 miles south of Boxley in Newton County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Conditions were said to be clear and dry as Darrell Glen White, 54, of Trinity drove a 2001 Freightliner north.

According to the report, the truck at one point veered off the pavement and tipped onto the driver's side before crashing into an embankment.

White suffered fatal injuries.

A passenger, identified as Rhonda Blake Bennett, 44, of Trinity, was listed as being hurt, though the report didn't detail the extent of her injuries.

The report also didn't indicate what may have caused the truck to leave the highway.

Earlier this month, an 18-year-old man died in a crash when his pickup veered off a highway and caught fire, authorities said.

Dennon Webb of Melbourne was driving a Ford F-150 on Arkansas 56 east of Calico Rock around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 4 when the pickup left the road, according to a state police report released Friday.

The vehicle then hit a tree and caught fire. An online obituary indicated Webb died that night.

It wasn't clear why the report wasn't released by police until Friday. No one else was listed as being hurt.

Conditions at the time were reported as clear and dry.
