St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, 1 St. Bernard Lane, and the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with a joint service at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at St. Bernard. An ecumenical choir, orchestra and bluegrass band will play for the service.

John Brown University in Siloam Springs presents Jay Seegert, speaking on "Faith is not a four-letter word," at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the JBU Walker Student Center. Seegert is an international speaker and author from Wisconsin and a JBU graduate. The event is sponsored by the Biblical History Museum.

Bella Vista Church of the Nazarene, 760 W. Lancashire Blvd., sponsors its fall festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the church. Activities include train rides for children, trunk or treat and face painting.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, sponsors a Reformation event at 5 p.m. Oct. 28 at the church, featuring a hayride, bonfire, hot dog and marshmallow roasts, treats, a devotion and a movie.

St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, 1 St. Bernard Lane, offers GriefShare, a 13-week program of video, group discussion and personal study, meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. each Wednesday, starting Nov. 1. Rosaleen Wilcox and Donna Hruska will facilitate the group. The class is limited to 10 people, so registration is requested.

Cave Springs Church of Christ, 476 N. Main St., celebrates its 100th anniversary with a day of Bible study, worship and fellowship from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 5.

First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., presents the Clabaugh Lectures to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. David Jensen of Austin (Texas) Presbyterian Theological Seminary, will present two lectures. He will speak on "Why the Past Matters" at 5 p.m. Oct. 22 and "Why the Future Matters" at 7 p.m. Oct. 23.

The church celebrates the anniversary with a Reformation hymn festival at 4 p.m. Oct. 29, featuring a 55-member choir from various Presbyterian churches in the area, a 14-piece brass ensemble, the church hand bell choir and the bagpipe band from Lyon College in Batesville.

First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, 1901 S. 26th St., hosts the Leslie Shupe Art School at 10 a.m. each Saturday, today through Nov. 4. Classes for children ages 7 to 12 meet from 10 a.m. to noon. Adult classes meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The school will include classes in acrylics, taught by Joe Lay; watercolor, by Anita Carroll; oil by Debi Ortega; and drawing and pastels by Cindy Shepherd. Cost is $20 for all six sessions, plus supplies.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors a family video game night Wednesday, starting with supper at 5:30 p.m.

The church celebrates the anniversary of the Reformation with one service at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 29. A luncheon will be served after the services in fellowship hall.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry volunteers distribute food from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. Suggested donations include items to be given for Thanksgiving: mashed potatoes, canned sweet potatoes, canned pure pumpkin, canned evaporated milk, canned cranberry sauce, canned green beans and cream of mushroom soup. Monetary donations also are welcome.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors the Disciple Women Fellowship at 10 a.m. today, with the lesson "Burning Bushes on the Way to Freedom," read by Judy Smith. The Disciple Men Fellowship meets at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 21 for breakfast, with Tom Judson, chief operating officer of the Bella Vista Property Owners Association, speaking.

The church serves a potluck fellowship meal after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, 2925 N. Old Missouri Road, commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and the 50th anniversary of the church with several events.

The church presents Beth Lewis, president and chief operating officer of 1517 Media, speaking on "Gutenberg to Google: Media and Religion" from 10:30 to 11:50 a.m. Oct. 27 at the graduate education auditorium at the University of Arkansas.

"Brewtheran," a Lutheran beer fellowship, hots "Brewtheran Reformation 2017," from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28. The Oktoberfest-theme event includes home brews, bratwurst, pretzel bar, "koozies" and live music. Registration requested.

Good Shepherd will observe both anniversaries with worship services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Oct. 29. Lewis will speak during the education hour. Bob Mueller, a professor of music at the University of Arkansas and music director of the church, leads a concert and organ recital, "Preludes and Hymns of the Reformation," at 3 p.m.
