The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, dropped 2.59 to 370.06 Monday.

Thirteen stocks declined, and five advanced.

Murphy Oil gained 1.4 percent on low volume.

Home BancShares rose 1 percent in light trading.

Dillard's fell 3.3 percent on low volume.

Windstream fell 2.9 percent in below-average volume.

Total volume for the index was 23.2 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
