Arkansas man shot by 69-year-old he kidnapped, tried to rob, police say

An Arkansan was shot by a 69-year-old man he kidnapped and was trying to rob, authorities say.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that police arrested 25-year-old Lentonio Marcell Jenner of Rogers at Washington Regional Medical Center on Sunday.

According to a police report cited by the newspaper, Jenner went up to a house on River Meadows Drive in Fayetteville about 2:45 p.m. Friday and used a gun to force the 69-year-old homeowner and his 65-year-old wife to get into their vehicle.

Jenner reportedly demanded that they drive him to the bank.

The 69-year-old man grabbed a gun he had inside his vehicle and shot Jenner in the leg near Huntsville Road, the newspaper reported, citing police records. Authorities said the two men fought until Jenner was pushed out of the vehicle.

According to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Jenner was found lying in the road bleeding near the bridge over the west fork of the White River.

Jenner was moved Sunday to the Washington County jail, where he was being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond as of midday Tuesday, records show. He is charged with aggravated residential burglary, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, battery and terroristic threatening.

The 25-year-old will appear in court at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, jail records show.

At the time of his arrest, Jenner was out on bail in a bank robbery case, the newspaper reported. He was charged with aggravated robbery and released Aug. 3 from the jail.
