Woman, 51, dies after motorcycle veers off Arkansas highway, hits guardrail

A 51-year-old Oklahoma woman was killed Monday when the motorcycle she was riding veered off an Arkansas highway and hit a guardrail, authorities said.

It happened around 4 p.m. as Laura Faye Juelfs of Pocola, Okla. was riding a Honda GL1800 east on Arkansas 88 in Polk County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

According to the report, Juelfs "failed to negotiate" a curve, which sent the vehicle off the north side of the roadway and into the guardrail.

Juelfs was taken to Mena Regional Health System, where she was pronounced dead.

Conditions at the time of the single-vehicle crash were said to be clear and dry.

The death was at least the 396th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
