Man found bloodied outside Arkansas sports bar dies at hospital, police say

Police are investigating a homicide after a bloodied man was discovered outside an Arkansas sports bar Thursday night.

According to a news release from the El Dorado Police Department, officers arrived at Hot Shots Sports Bar and Grill at 601 S. Timberlane Drive in response to a shots fired call just after 9:20 p.m.

Officers said they found the victim, later identified as 30-year-old Cory Goodwin of Smackover, lying on the ground with "blood on his body."

Goodwin was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital, then transferred to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.

Eric Morrison was arrested at the scene and taken to Union County jail, police said. The Hot Springs resident was initially charged with first-degree battery, but the charge was changed to first-degree murder after officers learned of the victim’s death Friday morning.

El Dorado Police Capt. Kevin Holt said it remains unclear whether Goodwin died of a gunshot wound. The body has been sent to the state Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
