Amateurs lead Randy Beaver Cup
The team of amateurs jumped out to a 11-5 lead Saturday after the first day of the eighth annual Randy Beaver Cup Match at Hot Springs Country Club.
Bev Hargraves of Little Rock, Ronnie Johnson of Hot Springs, Matt Willmott of Harrison, Brent Winston of Sheridan, Nick Zimmerman of North Little Rock and Stafford Gray of Sherwood were all part of winning teams in four-ball and foursome matches for the amateurs.
Philip Holley of Hot Springs Country Club was the lone professional to be on two winning matches, pairing with Henderson State's Forrest Schultz to win four-ball 5 and 4, then taking his foursome match with Jon Burton of Hardscrabble Country Club by a 4-and-3 score.
The tournament concludes today with 16 singles matches.
