Arkansas man killed in head-on collision; car moved to pass another vehicle before crash, police say

A 20-year-old Arkansas man died in a head-on collision Saturday in a crash that occurred as he tried to pass another vehicle on a state highway, police said.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m., Michael K. McBride of Magnolia was driving a Honda Civic south on Arkansas 19 south of Magnolia when he attempted to pass another vehicle, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The Civic then collided head-on with a northbound Mercury Marquis, the report said.

McBride suffered fatal injuries. Two Louisiana residents in the Marquis — 57-year-old driver Ronnie B. Henderson of Haynesville and 38-year-old passenger Keauati M. Crittenden of Springhill — were listed as being hurt, though the report didn't specify the extent of their injuries.

Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

The death is one of at least 416 in traffic crashes in Arkansas so far this year and one of five reported in the state on Saturday.
