Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 699 N. Sang Ave., plans many activities to celebrate the High Holidays.

Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, is Sept. 21-22. • DivorceCare for Kids meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning this week. The 13-week ministry is designed to help children in first through sixth grades through a Bible-based lesson. A $15 donation is requested to cover materials.

• Single & Parenting meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning this week. The 13-week ministry is designed to help single parents handle the job of parenting alone. A $15 donation is requested to cover materials.

• Financial Peace University meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning this week. The nine-week ministry is designed to help families take charge of their financial situations. A $100 donation is requested to cover materials.

• DivorceCare meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. each Sunday, beginning Sept. 10. The program is designed to help those divorced and going through divorce with their feelings and changing situations.

Scholarships are available, if needed. Babysitting is provided.

New Wine Ministries, 8030 La Croix Road, Decatur, 2262 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, meets at 5:30 p.m. each Saturday and 2 p.m. each Sunday in Bella Vista.

Patricia Xavier, a pastor, leads a study on spiritual warfare and deliverance at 7 p.m. each Thursday in Bella Visa. The study is based on her book, Deliverance: The Christian's Bill of Rights. A Bible study is held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday in Decatur.

The Women of Substance meet at 2:30 p.m. the first Sunday of each month, with a buffet luncheon and a personal testimony.

A Sunday morning education group will consider a three-part documentary, titled "Race: The Power of the Illision," starts Sept. 10.

The United Singles meet at 10 a.m. Friday at the Metfield pavilion for food and games; cost is $5. The church offers a book study focusing on Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived by Rob Bell. Discussions are planned for 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3.

The church hosts the Arkansas and Oklahoma Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 for the 30th Synodical Convention, "New Every Morning."

Midweek Manna meets each Wednesday. A fellowship meal is served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for a suggested donation. Small group study classes meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fall classes include a women's Bible study, technology for seniors, elder care, "The Shack," an Old Testament Bible study, coloring for calm and bazaar crafts. Youth Life meets during this time, and Bible studies and homework time are offered for children in preschool through sixth grade. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers.

The church offers "When Mourning Dawns: A Journey Through Grief" from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday through Oct. 24.

The "Prayer Shawl" ministry meets from 10 to 11 a.m. each Tuesday. "Friends Plus," a healthy eating program, meets at 9 a.m. each Wednesday. Men's Emmaus meets at 1 p.m. each Wednesday. The church offers a worship service for those unable to attend a regular service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The church serves lunch after the service, and transportation is available.

The men's discipleship class meets at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. each Monday.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. Donation requests include sugar-free Jello, mashed potatoes and canned pumpkin for the holiday season.

The women's Bible study starts a new study Sept. 21 on the book, Fight Back With Joy by Margaret Feinberg. The women's study meets at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday, with the class being taught a second time at 6 p.m. each Thursday. The book costs $15.

A prayer fellowship meets at 9:15 a.m. every Wednesday.

Parish nurses answer questions and provide blood-pressure checks from 9 a.m. to noon each Wednesday. A caregivers' support group meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
