Dr. Zaki Samman joined Mercy Clinic Oncology-Fort Smith. Samman earned a doctorate in medicine at Damascus University School of Medicine and completed a three-year internal medicine residency at Damascus University Hospitals in Syria. He completed a three-year internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Affiliated Hospital, and a three-year fellowship in hematology-oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Samman has practiced hematology and oncology in Fort Smith since 1996. He is board-certified in oncology, hematology and internal medicine.

Katie Bruhl, AIA, LEED AP, was promoted to partner by Allison + Partners, a Little Rock-based architectural firm with Northwest Arkansas offices. She graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in architecture and began working at the firm as an intern in 2008, received her license in 2013 and was promoted to senior associate in 2015. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and U.S. Green Building Council Arkansas Chapter.

Shelli Cathcart was hired as executive director of the Northwest Arkansas Women's Shelter. She has served on the shelter's board of director for the past three years.

Bill Bradley, CEO of Washington Regional Medical System in Fayetteville, was named the Arkansas Hospital Association's 2017 recipient of the A. Allen Weintraub Memorial Award. He has served more than 30 years as a hospital executive, including as CEO of hospitals in Springdale and Russellville. He has been CEO of Washington Regional since 2004 and will retire in November. The award is named after the former administrator of St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock and is the association's highest honor. The association's board of directors will present Bradley the award Oct. 5 during its annual meeting.

Alexandru Avram joined Pel-Freez Biologicals, a division of Pel-Freez Arkansas LLC in Rogers, as research and development scientist and process engineer. He recently obtained his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He completed his undergraduate bachelor's degree in bioengineering at the University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen, Giessen, Germany. Avram was a visiting scientist at Kansas State University and worked for the Institute for Bioprocess Engineering and Pharma Tech and Justus Liebig University in Hessen, Germany,
