Fundraisers greet givers picked for charity awards

Givers of all kinds to be honored at this year's National Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon gathered for a celebratory reception Tuesday in the lower lobby of the Arkansas Arts Center. Both events are put on by the central Arkansas chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, or AFP.

This is the association's 32nd year of honoring philanthropists and volunteer fundraisers and organizations. The main event, scheduled for Nov. 16 at the Embassy Suites Little Rock, has been called a "reunion of fundraisers" because attendees also include those who nominated the winners, past award winners and members of the local chapter.

The 2017 honorees include the Bodenhamer family as Outstanding Philanthropist, Delta Dental of Arkansas as Outstanding Foundation, Nabholz Corp. as Outstanding Corporation and Jeff Standridge as Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser.

Also to be honored are Arkansas Bikers for Children as Outstanding Volunteer Organization, Tom Nisbett as Outstanding Fundraising Professional, Don R. Roberts Elementary School as Outstanding Volunteer Youth Group and University of Arkansas student Jules Fletcher as Outstanding Volunteer Youth Fundraiser.

North Little Rock Police Officer Tommy Norman will be honored with the AFP Arkansas President's Award for his work with the Mission Give Foundation, and the Fine Arts Club is this year's recipient of the AFP Arkansas Lifetime Achievement Award.

Honorees who attended Tuesday's reception enjoyed beer, wine and light hors d'oeuvres.
