LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN

Club's 'sustainers' step up to fill ranks of 1922 Society

Junior League of Little Rock sustainer Ellon Cockrill opened her Hillcrest home to members and other sustainers the afternoon of Aug. 24 with an invitation for them to become founding members of the 1922 Society.

Guests enjoyed cucumber sandwiches, cheese crisps and petit fours and their choice of hot or iced tea. The minted iced tea was from a recipe in one of the league's cookbooks.

The league celebrated its 95th anniversary earlier this year and surpassed its goal of recruiting 95 founding members to pledge $95 per year for five years. The funds will support the league's community and volunteer programs, and the upkeep of its facilities.

The league's current projects include the Nonprofit Board Institute, Boosters & Big Rigs, Stuff the Bus and Kota Camp for Fun.
