Sports Injuries Program

BATESVILLE — Old Independence Regional Museum, 380 S. Ninth St., will offer a program at 2 p.m. on how to protect against sports injuries and how best to treat injuries when they occur. Dr. Dylan Carpenter will be the special speaker. The program is free and open to the public. Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Mass in French

SEARCY — St. James Catholic Church, 1102 Pioneer Road, will have a French Mass at 5 p.m., hosted by Catholic Campus Ministries of White County. The celebrant will be Bishop Anthony B. Taylor. A special welcome is extended to students of the French language. Following Mass, French-themed foods will be served in the Parish Hall. STARS Monthly Meeting

The Vietnam War

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Museum of Military History will present a 40-minute screening of The Vietnam War, a new documentary by Ken Burns, followed by keynote speaker Tim Nguyen, from 2-4 p.m. There is no charge, but seating is limited. CABOT — A Veterans Best Friend will host its fifth-anniversary celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 68 S. Murder Mystery Fundraiser

White River Water Carnival

BATESVILLE — The 74th annual White River Water Carnival will begin at 10 a.m. at Riverside Park. There will be live music, food and craft vendors, a car show, a parade and activities for kids.

Batesville Fall Outdoor Sports Show

BATESVILLE — The first Batesville Fall Outdoor Sports Show will take place both days at the new Batesville Community Center. The show will feature nearly 29,000 square feet of indoor display and demonstration space, virtual outdoor recreation webinars and activities for kids. There will be free parking and full food and beverage service. Admission to the event is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Vietnam War Veterans Meetings

MELBOURNE — The Izard County Veterans Service Office is sponsoring meetings for veterans of the Vietnam War era, all services. The group meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon every first and third Thursday in the old Kustom Made Graphics building, 614 Main St., directly across from Mark’s Pharmacy. Cardio Circuit Classes

MELBOURNE — Ozarka College in Melbourne will offer cardio circuit classes through Continuing Education on Tuesday and Sept. 19 and 26 in Room C106 of the John E. Miller Education Complex. Session A will begin at 4:15 p.m., and session B at 5:15 p.m. The one-hour classes will be taught by Crystal Nicholson and will cover a variety of cardio, strength and flexibility activities with circuit-style training. Free GED Classes at Ozarka College

American Legion Post 71 Membership Drive

CABOT — Criswell Robinson American Legion Post 71 is seeking members. The group meets the fourth Thursday of each month. All spouses may join the Auxiliary, and daughters may join the Junior Auxiliary. Ozarka College Foundation Golf Tournament

MELBOURNE — The Ozarka College Foundation Golf Tournament, a four-person scramble, will take place Oct. 7 at Cooper’s Hawk Golf Course with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the students of Ozarka College. The entry fee is $300 per team and includes range balls, the golf-cart fee, a light breakfast, lunch, a gift bag and 18 holes of golf. Mulligans will be available for $5 each. Awards will be given for the longest drive, the longest putt and closest to the pin. A car donated by Freedom Ford will be the hole-in-one prize. Paws at the Beach 5K Run/Walk
