FAYETTEVILLE -- A woman was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday for distributing methamphetamine.

Hjestie Olitta Sommer, 40, of Fayetteville was sentenced to six years and five months followed by three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $1,900 fine on one count of distribution of meth.

The 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force learned in August 2016 Sommer was distributing meth in the Springdale area, according to court records. The task force did a controlled buy from Sommer.

Sommer was indicted by a federal grand jury in March and pleaded guilty in May.

U.S. District Judge Tim Brooks presided over the sentencing hearing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sydney Butler prosecuted the case.
