A SWAT callout Wednesday night ended in the arrest of a man who barricaded himself in a Little Rock house, according to the police department.

Police were dispatched around 8 p.m. to a house in the 2200 block of Walker Street for a report of a disturbance with a weapon, said Lt. Steve McClanahan, a police spokesman.

Officers spoke with a woman who said her boyfriend, identified as 59-year-old Lawrence Faulkner, had shot at her, he said. The woman was not injured.

An arrest report indicates the woman heard a single gunshot, though police at the scene said Faulkner fired at least twice.

The woman, reached by phone Thursday morning, said when she saw Lawrence cock the gun back, she ran into a bathroom and locked herself inside. As she ran, she heard a gunshot, she said.

The woman said she dialed 911 from the bathroom. She then went out a back door and hurried to a nearby stop sign, where she stayed on the phone with the dispatcher and waited for police to arrive.

“I hate that it happened. I’m just lost for words,” the woman said.

Faulkner, who had barricaded himself in the house, refused to talk with patrol officers, McClanahan said. Around 9:25 p.m., police called out the SWAT team.

Faulkner was arrested around midnight on charges of aggravated assault on a family member and possessing a firearm as a felon, according to a police report.

Faulkner is wheelchair bound, McClanahan said.

He is being held at the Pulaski County jail without bail.

A court date is scheduled for Sept. 20.
