A searchlight on a guard tower at the Arkansas Department of Correction's Cummins Unit overlooks a fence in this 2001 photo. After several problems at state prisons, Gov. Mike Beebe on Tuesday said it is appropriate that the department conduct its own investigation.

Three inmates were injured, and windows and surveillance equipment were damaged in a "disturbance" late Thursday night in the Cummins prison near Grady, according to a statement Friday from the state Department of Correction.

The Statement above about guards doing "an excellent job under very difficult circumstances " is a lie . The guard on duty the night my son was stabbed 4 times , once in the back of the neck , his kidney area ( and he has stage 4 kidney failure ) under his chin and his shoulder , could have stopped this from happening but she sat there and watched one man go from one area into another area he was not supposed to go to and gather 2 knives , bringing them back to the area his friend was in , gave them to him and the man ran at my son and attacked him , my son hit him with a wet floor sign and they both went down to the ground , my son put the man in a choke hole while he was bleeding from his stab wounds , they laced both men , took them to the infirmary and my son was stitched up there on the premises , he was to have daily antibiotics but received very little as the prison infirmary had little to give , he caught an infection on the wound to the back of his neck . I spoke with prison officials , the only information they would give me was they didn't have medicine to give him and would NOT be taking him to see an outside provider for about 2 weeks .

I heard that the female guard who allowed this to take place has since quit ADC . Had she been fired though , she couldn't come back , now she has a way back after 6 months they can and most likely rehire her .

My son is incarcerated on a wrongful conviction that he was made to confess to . He was beaten almost to death and abused severely in county lock up . His father was so afraid for him there , he coaxed him to confess and with hopes there would be an acquittal . None of us knew what lay ahead , it has been abuse after abuse in county , now the state level .

The man who gave the other man knives , got out of his isolation cell that night and came to tell my son he would be finishing the job . Neither man was disciplined within the prison for their actions .

Both men involved were said to be rogue Aryan Brotherhood , out to do thier own kill .

Our prisons are once again horribly over crowed with non-violent drug offenders that should be in rehab instead of prison, but hey, without prisons what would the citizens of Jefferson County do for employment?

Skeptic1 , the prisoners are getting better access to drugs of choice in prison than out on the streets . Brought in from outside by guards . My son has told me he could get almost anything he wanted in there , if he wanted . He said the drug Flakka is running rampant in Easy Ark Region .

An inmate died in Brinkeys Unit last Thursday due to a drug over dose and the man who found him and went for help is said to be investigated for killing that man . The guards were not doing their rounds and the man was found hours after he died , so I am told . We'll probably never know what really happened , and neither will that man's family most likely .

There is a lack of communication in that prison , I know first hand . Today they told me they didn't know why there is no medicine for my son , but there just isn't . He is in stage four of renal failure .

In my opinion , the prison system , has it's on set of laws , and rules , and they can't be bothered with you , when it comes to your loved ones . They cannot even commit to an answer for most every question I have right then and there asked , their answer is ... let me find out and I will call you back... and I may or may not get that call , but it will certainly be after I have gone through every channel I can ...Do they not understand that as a tax payer , their salaries are paid by the public ?
