Keb' Mo', Taj Mahal unite for a musical night in NWA

Legendary bluesmen Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' are uniting for a cross-generational collaboration -- TajMo: The Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' Band, with special guest Black Pacific, 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fayetteville's Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St.

Sublime With Rome

'Dark Night' Dinner

The Argenta Community Theater, 405 Main St., North Little Rock, will hold its inaugural "Dark Night" Dinner, honoring those who have contributed to the development of community theater in central Arkansas, with a 6 p.m. reception and 7 p.m. dinner Monday. The first "Nellie" awards -- named for South Pacific nurse and Little Rock "native" Nellie Forbush -- will go to theater veterans Judy Trice for performance and direction, Bob Bidewell for music and Sara Cooke for technical theater.

Five area groups -- Argenta Community Theater (North Little Rock), Red Curtain Theater (Conway), Royal Theater (Benton) and the Studio Theater and Weekend Theater (Little Rock) -- will offer performances. Master of ceremonies is actress Candyce Hinkle, who has multiple credits in community and professional theater, film and television. Dinner is provided by Ben E. Keith Foods Mid-South. 'Caraway's Shadow'

Donald A. Ritchie, the U.S. Senate's historian emeritus, will give the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies' second annual Betsey Wright Distinguished Lecture -- "Hattie Caraway's Long Shadow: Women in the U.S. Senate," 7 p.m. Thursday, Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock. The lecture, which focuses on politics, government and public policy of special interest to women, pays tribute to the political career and advocacy work of Betsey Wright, who served as chief of staff for former Gov. Bill Clinton for seven years and as deputy chairman of the Clinton 1992 presidential campaign.

Exile at Alma

Christian singer-songwriter Matt Maher will perform at 6 p.m. Friday on the mall at University of the Ozarks, 415 N. Singers' auditions

The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas will hold auditions for the 2017-2018 SoNA Singers, by appointment, Saturday at Bentonville High School, 1801 S.E. J St., Bentonville. The audition will consist of one prepared solo (oratorio, aria or art song preferred; an accompanist will be provided), pitch memory exercises, intervals and major and minor scales.
