Police report: Arkansas school bus travels 15 feet before driver notices girl stuck in door

Authorities say an Arkansas school district's bus driver drove about 15 feet before realizing a girl was caught in the door.

The girl’s father said she was getting off the bus Wednesday near their home in Jonesboro when her backpack got caught in the door and the bus began moving forward, according to a police report.

When the driver noticed the girl, he reportedly stopped and opened the door.

Lacy Baker, a curriculum specialist for the Nettleton School District, said the driver is no longer working for the district. At the time of the incident, he had only been employed for a few weeks.

Baker added that the girl is in the second grade at University Heights Intermediate.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department report, she was not injured.
