A man who was staying at a hotel near Interstate 430 in west Little Rock reached over the counter and stole cash from the register while the clerk was away from the desk, authorities said.

It happened about 3:25 p.m. Sunday as the clerk at the Studio 6 hotel at 1010 Breckenridge Drive was outside with a guest, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Surveillance footage showed a man who had been staying at the hotel "leaning over the counter and grabbing all of the money from the register," the report said.

A woman in one of two rooms the man was seen in identified the thief, but authorities searched the area and did not locate him, the report said. He was not listed as an inmate at the Pulaski County jail Monday morning.
