An Arkansas man is accused of stabbing a neighbor who tried to stop him from beating his girlfriend Saturday.

According to a report from Springdale police, Takie Teiko, 38, began punching his girlfriend during an argument inside an apartment at a complex at 413 Ewalt Ave.

The report said the woman ran from the apartment and found Rico Cohn, 31, outside.

Cohn followed her back inside the apartment to stop Teiko. After the neighbor was gone, Teiko reportedly took a kitchen knife in one hand and a pocketknife in the other and went to his door.

When Cohn opened it, Teiko stabbed him in the shoulder, elbow and thigh, police said.

After Springdale officers arrived around 7:30 p.m., Cohn was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Teiko, a Springdale resident, was transported to Washington County jail, where he was being held in lieu of $7,500 bond Tuesday afternoon.

He faces charges of second-degree battery and third-degree domestic battering. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23.
