A 48-year-old central Arkansas man is accused of raping a 5-year-old girl, police said.

William Ray Fausett of Cabot was arrested around 7 p.m. on Tuesday at an office of the North Little Rock Police Department at 615 W. 29th St., according to an arrest report.

Fausett admitted to raping and sexually assaulting the girl several times over the past year, police wrote in the arrest report.

Fausett also told officers he showed the 5-year-old pornographic material prior to the abuse, police said.

He was arrested on charges of rape, second-degree sexual assault and sexually grooming a child.

Fausett is being held in the Pulaski County jail without bail.

A court date is scheduled for Wednesday.

Nobody cares about sex crimes in Arkansas Dearlo....Arkansans only care about gang members and drug dealers. If this guy was either/or he'd probably be black so the commenters would be all over this. He's only RAPING innocent 5 year old girls....won't surprise me if some nut case tries to defend this heinous act

dearlo, please put the blame where it belongs, on this evil man. Molesters not only groom the child they groom the parents or caretaker into believing they can be trusted with the child. Too often it is a male relative, an uncle or nephew or male cousin. To keep the child from telling the molester sometimes kills them or threatens to kill their family if they tell. This crime is so despicable it is hard to read about. I fear that easy access to porn is complicit in this terrible plague of rape.

With all due respect, it is still the ultimate responsibility of the parents to care for and protect their children. All too often in today's society that is a forgotten trait. We have relegated child rearing to iPhones and iPads and computers thus forgetting who and what lurks out of sight. I'm not discounting the horror that this man inflicted on this child, but I do question, as did dearlo, where were the parents and why haven't they done something?

Maybe I missed something. I know of no parents who stand watch over a child every minute of a day. It is impossible.

Just get a rope. There is nothing that could be said that could mitigate this guy and no rehabilitation that will help.

A possible scenario would be the father is either out of the picture or totally unaware & this perv-perp is the mother's BF.
