Del Monte Food’s announced the sale of its Sager Creek vegetable business Thursday.

— Del Monte Foods is closing an operating facility in Siloam Springs, eliminating 238 jobs, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Wednesday.

The move came after the food production and distribution company sold its Sager Creek vegetable business. Del Monte Foods Chief Operating Officer Dave Meyer said that business is not in line with the company's goals.

Warehouse operations at the Kenwood, Jefferson and Springdale locations have not been affected by the sale, the newspaper reported.

Wayne Mays, president and CEO of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce, told the newspaper that former Del Monte employees will likely find work at other local industries.

Arkansas Workforce Center, located at 809 S. Mount Olive St., has members dedicated to working with displaced workers, Mays said.
