A nurse’s assistant at a Northwest Arkansas adult care center has been arrested in the sexual assault of a teen patient, police say.

William Deupree, 56, of Prairie Grove was taken into custody Monday on a charge of second-degree sexual assault, records show.

Deupree was found by a co-worker with his pants pulled down in the same room as a mentally and physically disabled patient at the Elizabeth Richardson Center in Springdale, according to a police report cited by the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The 18-year-old female patient also did not have pants on and was lying in her bed, authorities said.

Deupree remained at the Washington County jail as of Wednesday in lieu of $5,000 bond, according to an online inmate roster. He had a court appearance set for that morning.

A call to the executive director of the Elizabeth Richardson Center was not immediately returned.
