An Arkansas teacher was jailed Monday on charges of sexual assault and sexual solicitation after a student contacted school administrators, police said.
Jarad Everett, 27, of Monticello was arrested after an investigation began Friday into his conduct, said Sgt. Tim Nichols with the Warren Police Department. Everett is a welding teacher at Warren High School who teaches in the vocational building, Nichols said.
According to the sergeant, a student told school officials Friday about "inappropriate contact" between Everett and a female student. Police investigators spoke with several people involved and issued a probable cause affidavit, he said.
Police believe there is one juvenile victim.
Everett is being held at the jail in Warren but will likely be transferred to the Dallas County facility, Nichols said.
