An Arkansas man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the sexual assault of two girls, records show.

James Edward Jones, 34, of Van Buren entered the plea on two counts of second-degree sexual assault, according to filings Wednesday in Crawford County Circuit Court. He also pleaded guilty to one count of failure to appear.

Three counts of rape were dropped as a result of Jones’ plea agreement, records show.

The sexual assaults happened between January 2013 and May 2016 and involved girls under the age of 14, according to authorities.

Jones must also serve a suspended sentence of 15 years, his sentencing order stipulates.
