Crews respond, find house in Little Rock engulfed in flames; officials investigate cause

Officials are investigating after a fire at a house just south of Interstate 30 in Little Rock on Wednesday night.

Firefighters were called to 8004 Stanton Road at 9:17 p.m., said Capt. Jason Weaver, a Little Rock Fire Department spokesman.

The house was engulfed in flames when crews got there, Weaver said. Responders deemed the structure was possibly unstable, and the atmosphere inside the home couldn't "support life," he said.

The roof at one point collapsed, Weaver added.

A neighbor told the department that a man sometimes went in and out of the home, but it was unclear if he lived there full time, Weaver said.

Fire marshals were at the scene Thursday morning to investigate the cause, he said.

Weaver said Thursday morning that it is unknown if anyone was inside the home when it caught fire, he said. He said additional details would be released later.
