Police: Man carjacked in Little Rock by person he met through dating app

A man was carjacked by someone he had agreed to meet in Little Rock after chatting with him via an online dating app, he told police.

The victim said he arrived around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Parc apartments, 5813 Baseline Road, and picked the person up at a sidewalk by the complex’s front office.

They then drove to Benny Craig Park in the 4600 block of Gum Springs Road and got out of the vehicle to walk, at which point the stranger pushed him from behind and caused him to fall face-forward, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

According to the report, the carjacker was able to grab the car keys when they fell out of the victim’s pocket and took off in the silver 2017 Chevrolet Sonic. A cellphone was also listed as stolen.

Authorities described the robber as a slender black male who stands about 6 feet 2 inches tall, has a dark complexion and has short hair.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
