Mississippi man accused of traveling to Arkansas to solicit sex from minor

A Mississippi man was arrested Tuesday after he crossed into Arkansas to solicit sex from someone underage, according to a news release.

Kristopher Dale Thomas, 43, of Gulfport, Miss., was arrested about 8 p.m. on a charge of Internet stalking of a child, the Faulkner County sheriff's office said.

Investigators began communicating with Thomas on July 25 after they found him in an online chat room related to incest, the release said.

Authorities say Thomas is accused of making arrangements to cross the border from Mississippi to Arkansas to have sex with a minor. When he arrived at a designated location in Conway, he was arrested, according to the release. He had a cellphone in his possession.

Thomas remained in Faulkner County jail Wednesday afternoon in lieu of a $50,000 bond. A court date is scheduled for Oct. 16.
