The first of Little Rock’s two planned H&M stores is set to open next month, the company said Thursday.

In a statement to Arkansas Online, the Swedish clothing company said its nearly 30,000-square-foot location on two floors of Park Plaza, 6000 W. Markham St., would welcome shoppers at noon Oct. 19.

The store will offer clothing for women and men and will also carry the H&M Kids collection for newborns through 14-year-olds.

On opening day at Park Plaza, H&M will offer an “Access to Fashion Pass” valued at between $10 and $300 for the first 200 customers, the statement reads. Other surprise offers will be announced during the event.

H&M said shoppers who "garment recycle" Oct. 19 can also enter to win a gift card valued at between $50 to $250.

Eleven store spaces were reconfigured to make room for the H&M location on the mall’s northeast end. Some of the stores moved while others closed permanently.

About 20 employees will work at the Park Plaza location.

Another H&M is under construction at the Outlets of Little Rock on the city’s southwest side. An exact opening date for that project has not been announced.

Arkansas’ first H&M opened in Jonesboro last year in 20,000 square feet of retail space at The Mall at Turtle Creek.
