Arkansan who said he had sex with girl gets 6 years probation, court records show

An Arkansas man who told authorities he had sex with a 12-year-old girl was given six years probation after pleading guilty to second-degree sexual assault Monday, according to records from Greene County Circuit Court.

Though Delbert Eugene Miller, 18, was originally charged with rape, the charge was later downgraded as part of a plea deal, records show.

Miller's guilty plea came after the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline alerted officers in June, according to an affidavit from Paragould police. During a police interview, he told officers he had sex with the girl, the document states.

Miller, who is from Paragould, will be required to register as a sex offender in addition to his probation term.
