Sheriff's office: Arkansas teen arrested after posting threat to school, referencing Columbine shooting

Authorities say they have arrested a teen who posted online threats to an Arkansas school and referenced the 1999 Columbine High School massacre.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Evan Michael Thompson at his home in Baxter County after a Norfork School District resource officer at found the posts on the 19-year-old's Facebook account Friday afternoon, according to a news release from the Baxter County sheriff's office.

One comment reportedly stated that a school "needs a Columbine," and Thompson also posted a photo from the Colorado shooting, authorities said.

The 19-year-old was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and taken to Baxter County jail, where he was booked around 3:37 p.m.

As of Friday afternoon, he was being held in lieu of $25,000 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 19.
